Turning off the sound via the keyboard

It used to be that you had to click on audio ads to hear them. Then they began yakking at you when you accidentally moused over them. Now some are set to begin yammering at you the minute the page loads.

To stop this, I've used the MUTE key, which is F10 on my keyboard, to simply turn off sound. It's so nice to eliminate that stuff. If I WANT to hear a video or something, I can just click the same key again to turn the sound back on. Ahhh. Quiet.

Phishing

If you get an email (looking like coming) from your bank asking you to update your data and offering link to do it it is probably a "Phishing" scam. Do not click on the link! And if you want to be double sure go to your bank site with your browser as you usually do. You will most certainly not see any request for update!

Selecting Text

If you have trouble dragging a mouse across text to select it, there's another option. Double-click in the middle of a word to select a word or triple-click to select an entire line. To select several lines, select the first word, then scroll to the last word and SHIFT-select it.

Make your own calendar websites (2/27/2010)

There are a couple of websites that let you make your own calendars and print them out.  I use two of them regularly.  I use http://bighugelabs.com/calendar.php to make annual calendars for my grandson featuring pictures of him.  Then I use http://www.calendarsthatwork.com/ to print a weekly calendar for the growing season to keep track of what's happening when in the garden.
